When Caleb says his name, he pronounces it “Ca-bub”.  Today, I was working with him to say it correctly.  I annunciated “Kay-Leb”.  He looked me square in the eyes and said, “Dig-Dug”.  (Dig Dug is his nickname).  I laughed so hard.

A few minutes later, he asked me what my [female chest parts] are.  I said, “They are private on ladies because we use them to nurse babies.”  He said, “Mine are private, too.  I will use them to nurse my sister.”  I don’t think we quite understand anatomy yet.

I Love My Kids

Some cute stories I hope not to forget…..but probably will if it were not for blogging…..

Today, I got the best parking spot at Costco.  I said, “Thank you, Jesus, for this parking spot.”  (With two small kids in tow, a prime spot is a huge blessing).
Caleb excitedly said, “Yes, thank you, Jesus.  Mommy, where is Jesus?”
I replied, “He is right here with us.”
Caleb asked, “Oh, is that his car?” (pointing to the car next to us)
It is a widely known fact that Caleb adores his daddy.  It’s really cute how much he imitates him.  When Brett is at work, Caleb misses him terribly.  Often, in the mornings, Caleb will ask me for a cup of coffee (Brett is the only one in our family who drinks it).  Sometimes he even offers Chloe a cup (of fictitious coffee).  A few days ago, at naptime, Caleb said, “Mommy, can I sleep with my shirt off, like Daddy does?”  My heart melts everytime he does something “just like Daddy”.

Chloe is talking pretty good these days.  She can answer questions.  “Yes” and “no” are two of my favorite words to hear her say.  She says them so girly and cute.  When she really does not want something, she sticks out her lips and shakes her head.  It makes me laugh so hard.

I think I have written this already, but it makes me smile every time.
When Caleb says, “Hey”, I always reply, “Hay’s for horses.”
To which he says, “No, hay’s for kids.”
(Even writing it makes me smile).
On a different note, Caleb has decided to wake up an hour earlier than usual.  Which to most moms is actually sleeping in, but for me, its killing me!  I even went to bed an hour earlier last night (which is a first) to compensate.  I really hope its a short term issue.  He is still napping well, but maybe he needs to cut that back?  Or I can get over it and wake up?
The weeks are passing by so fast around here.  It is hard to believe we are almost to May.  My sweet husband will be 29 on Saturday.  He was 24 when we got married…..the time has flown by.  I really hope life slows down at some point.  I am enjoying life a lot right now, so maybe thats why it is just going too fast.  I mean, I always enjoy life, but we are in a particularly fun season of life.
Well, have a great rest of the week!!

I really have nothing to blog about (well, if that does not keep you interested, I am not sure what will), but its been awhile.  So maybe I should update, even though I am not sure what will come out of this post.

We had our annual ministry banquet this weekend, and I love our celebratory time!  I cry every year, hearing the stories about how God is changing so many lives through our staff.  God is so faithful and amazing.  The keynote speaker was fabulous.   I loved the quote he used, “I will always remember this as the night Michael Jordan and I combined to score 70 points.”  Said by Stacey King, commenting on MJ’s record high night of scoring 69 points.

Brett and I took the kids on a really long walk tonight.  Caleb and I raced most of the time, so I am about to drop.  It justified the chocolate chip cake I ate tonight, I suppose.  I needed to go to the grocery store and clean the house….neither of which got done.  Oh well.

Well, this is lamer than I expected, so I am just going to go.  I am sure my kids will do something funny to blog about.  They have done funny stuff this week, but my brain is not working.

I talked of my new meal plan in yesterday’s blog. I thought I’d elaborate on it, because it has been so awesome.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for For $1.25/week, you go on the website and print out a 7-day meal plan and a grocery list. You have to pay for 3 months at a time, which is $15. If you use promo code DAVE, you get $2.50 off.

You choose your grocery store and meal plan. I chose Low Fat Wal-Mart. Each week, I go to their website and print my meal plan and grocery list. It has seven dinners. I look at my week and decide if we need all seven or not. If so, then I buy everything. If not, I pick my least favorite meals and mark them out. On the grocery list, its divided by sections of the store you find things, as well as the coordinating meal. For instance, if I decide not to eat meal 4, then I go to the grocery list and mark off all of meal 4’s items.

The meals feed our family of four with a lot of leftovers. Even Brett commented how much money we are saving because we have all the meals for the week, so we do not go out to eat simply for lack of food. Plus, we eat leftovers for lunch, so I do not have to buy as much lunch food.

It is widely known I dislike grocery shopping. I also dislike meal planning and cooking. This makes it so thoughtless. But the best part is that we get so much variety. Tonight’s meal is a crock pot soup with blueberry muffins for a side. I would have never thought to make muffins for a side. While I have always planned meals, its the same few meals to pick from. Whenever I would branch out and try new ones, we were sometimes pleased, sometimes disappointed. So far, we have liked everything on the meals. I mean, we have not done it that long, but so far, so good. And I can look at the meal and figure out (for the most part) if its something we even will like.

I have no affiliation with and am getting nothing for this advertisement (although I am very open to it LOL). I love when people pass on helpful information, and this has been so helpful. Well worth the $15 for 3 months. Oh, one more thing. The site is created by moms, so everything is few ingredients and easy!

I chose the low fat Wal-Mart, but there are tons of different plans to choose from.

I highly recommend giving it a try, if meal planning and cooking are not your favorite things.

Today Just Was Not My Day

Before I start with my frustrating day….that is not worth reading about….I have a few children stories. I adore my kids, and they have been hilarious lately.

– Brett is self-admitted a passenger seat driver. My driving terrifies him, and its no small secret. We were going to a friend’s house. There was a woman walking near the street. From the backseat, Caleb said, “Mommy, make sure you don’t hit that lady walking in the street!!!!!!!”
Brett and I about DIED laughing!!!!

– Chloe is officially running. I need to get a video because she is adorable. So girly and fast. She is also talking a lot…..she works really hard to say words (she annunciates everything). Cute, cute.

– I was listening to a podcast of Brett’s favorite preacher. I turned it off to talk to Caleb. Caleb said, “Mommy, please turn that back on.” Daddy would be so proud 🙂

Now to my venting……

Do you ever have those days that just are not your day? Today was that day. Nothing too dramatic, just a day that I was happy when it was over.

I had MOPS this morning, which was really fun. A bit stressful but mostly awesome. I gave my testimony, which I have never done before, and it went better than I expected. I had fun speaking!

Brett was supposed to come help serve….its the one meeting a year that we have men serve breakfast to the moms….but his car battery was dead. Definitely a bummer, but there were enough men to do it.

I was riding to Costco to go with Brett to get a new battery for his car. I spilled a 32 oz cup of ice cold water on my lap (it was really cold outside today). I got to go grocery shopping with soaking wet jeans.

Then, we went to AT&T to get a new phone for Brett. I called today and they said we could go ahead with an upgrade…..since our contract lapses in ONE WEEK. We have never missed a payment for four years, and after a person on the phone assured me we could get the phone for free in the store, the employee would not let us get it. According to Brett, I do not think rules apply to me. While this is true a lot of the time, but I was told it was no problem. With wet jeans and two children in a PLEASE STOP TOUCHING THAT AND THAT AND THAT in the cell phone store, it frustrated me very much.

Anyway, like I said, nothing major. Just annoying. And my mood was pretty rotten….maybe I was just tired after a busy morning? I did get a nap, but it did not help my mood much :(.

The good news is that I went to the grocery store…..which by the way, my new meal plan has been really awesome…..and had the sweetest cashier. I’ve had her before, and she is the nicest lady!! It really helped my mood to have a good conversation.

They Were Only Gone A Minute

In an attempt to restore order to my disgusting house today, I cleaned dishes while my children were playing upstairs. Just about the time I was wondering what they were up to, Caleb runs up to me TOTALLY NAK*ED. I follow him upstairs to find this:

All of our beach towels completely soaked in a bathtub partway full of water.

Digital Scrapbooking

While I have simple photo albums for each of my children, I do not have a collective family album. I decided to digitally scrapbook the last four years of my family’s history. Using, I was able to do it quite fast. Below are the scrapbooks. I was so excited I could share them online that I had to post them. They are fairly long, so I do not actually expect anyone to look at them. But this method is SO easy. Plus, the books are so thin that they store quite easily. Real scrapbooks look so much better, but this is the only realistic option for me :).

I will be back in a few days with a real post! Not sure what it will be, but something. I have not been doing a good job of blogging lately!
