Golly, I really do not mean to go this long in between posts! I am not really lacking material, but for some reason, I have been so bad about blogging lately.

My children are growing up too fast. I know all parents say that, but hearing my little boy learn new words each day makes me realize the years are passing too quickly. Chloe is really mobile now. Mobile. How did that happen so fast?

I have not mentioned painting in awhile, so I shall update you. We are about 20 minutes away from being done!! There is a spot on our foyer wall that is uneven. Once we get that done, we will be DONE. There is still some touch up paint to be done, but I feel like that will be over the course of a long period, as we see things needing to be done. I will post pictures this week hopefully!! Even though it is not perfect, I love the new colors. It makes such a huge difference! My home just feels warmer. I enjoy home improvement projects, so I imagine when this one is done, I will enjoy a short hiatus before moving onto something new. I try to do improvements that require no money. Costly improvements will have to be done at a later time.

I went running last week for the first time since before having children. I jogged pretty consistently in my teens and college days, but I have not done it since getting pregnant with Caleb. I have exercised; I just have not gone jogging. I got a wild hair last Sunday and went for a jog. It was a really interesting time. I felt like I got a glimpse of who I was before becoming a mom. Though I love how my life has change, it gently reminded me how important it is to nurture myself, too. It sounds strange, but it was a turning point in my parenting. I had aspirations to totally change, which, of course, did not happen. But I have taken steps toward becoming who I aspire to be. I have eaten a lot better this week than in the past two years. In fairness, I have been pregnant and/or nursing for 37 months straight, which allowed for a fair amount of justified gluttony. However, my nursing days are coming to an end in about 2 months, so I figure my eating habits should change, too. All that to say I feel like a new person. It feels nice to recharge!!

On the opposite side of that, I have long said that I plan for Chloe and my next child to be about 2 and a 1/2 years apart. Which means I will be trying to have a baby this time next year. I am not sure I am ready to take that step. Maybe by next year, I will be ready. But I am loving my life with these two treasures…I feel like I am just now really getting into the groove of two. Currently, I do not have baby fever, but I imagine it will return when the time comes. I have not actually prayed about when to start trying to have our next child, but then again, I have never actually tried to have a child (though I have been super excited both times)….so God may choose to surprise us again.

I have been thinking about traditions I want to start in our family. And one I will start doing (probably next year) is celebrating 1/2 day on July 1. That is the halfway point of the year. Having a half day sounds like so much fun!

I rearranged the furniture in our basement last week. It has been the same for two years, which I think may be a record for me. I love the change!! I really enjoy change in general. I know a lot of people hate it, but I like to keep things fresh!

I feel like I have so much more to say, but when I sit down, I seem to forget.

Have a great week!!!

I am officially a mom

I was officially initiated into the Mother’s Club last night. After Caleb’s bath last night, I dressed him, and as usual, we were snuggling before he gets into bed (I hold him. He puts his arms around me and lays his head on my shoulder). This is my most favorite time of night. Last night, while snuggling, he just puked all over me. It did not help that he had had milk and Oreo’s after dinner last night. Any one who has ever seen milk come back up knows that it had curdled by that time. For as weak of a stomach that I have, I actually did not even as much as gag. Which, if you know me well, that is quite a feat! I have always wondered how I would react to my child’s puke. And now I know. I handle it way better than I would have ever thought!

In case you’re wondering, he threw up one more time that night…..but has been fine ever since.

Ironically, Caleb had a doctor’s appointment today, and so did Chloe. They each had their well baby visit. Both are doing well :). Caleb is in the 25% for size, while Chloe is in the 75%. Caleb used to be higher on the charts but has steadily declined, and actually Chloe has gone down a tad.

I printed off all of my old xanga entries. I had not done that since July 2007. It is fun to go back and read things I wrote about. I would not have remembered a lot of the stories, if it weren’t for blogging about them.

Tonight, for dessert, I made fried bananas. I have not had those since high school, so it was a fun little walk down memory lane. My dad used to make them all the time. I had forgotten about them, until Brett mentioned grilling bananas.

Today was the most gorgeous day outside!!! We have been outside a lot of the day, and we went on a walk. So fun.

March 3

Today is a special day to me.

Not only is it my wonderful, awesome, precious, sweet, funny son, Caleb’s 2nd Birthday…..

….but today is the day I heard the words that would forever change my life (for the better, of course):

“The reason I asked you to go to lunch with me today is that I am going back home to Kansas City in a few days.  Would it be ok if I called you more when I got back home?”

Of course, I said yes to what would become my husband.

And, by the way, we went from that statement to exclusively dating on that same lunch date :).

This is round two of posting these pictures. It would not work, for some reason, yesterday!! Only the web address would show up?!

Here are pictures from Caleb’s birthday! I cannot believe my little boy is turning 2 on Monday. As cliche as it sounds, the time has just flown by. It makes my heart sad to know he is growing so fast, but it is so joyous to see him change and grow and just get sweeter and cuter every day!

Caleb’s two cousins also turn 2 this month (in February….Caleb’s b-day is in March, but they were all born within a month of each other!). We all celebrated together!

The birthday party was at a gymnastics place. Here are all the birthday goers:

After the party, my parents’ Chinese friends cooked us an authentic meal. It was delicious. The best thing, in my opinion, was a cabbage dish they made. I know cabbage gives babies gas, so I only ate a little. But I could have eaten the entire entree!! It was delicious!

This is not from the weekend, but I thought it was hilarious. Caleb likes to accessorize with hats and glasses.

We had a great time celebrating our son!!!

Let It Snow. Let It Snow. But please quit soon.

It is Snowing. Again.

It is snowing again. Brett went to church. He was preaching today, and he helps set up…..so he went earlier than I usually go. He called to tell me to stay home because the roads were not cleared yet. Its just too risky with the little ones. It was a pretty boring morning, but it was pretty relaxing. Our church is small. Its a fairly new church. There are nine children. Of those nine children, my sweet Lulu (aka Chloe) is the only girl. Two of my friends who go to our church are also pregnant. One girl is not finding out what she is having. The other girl just found out this week she is having a boy. I am very excited for them!! So now the count is 10 boys. My sweet girl. Good thing Brett owns a lot of guns. Although I do think my other friend is having a girl. So hopefully that will make the count 10 boys. Two sweet girls. Of course, if Caleb keeps up his current record of pestering his younger sister, she will be tough. He is so sweet to her and loves her so much. He just does not know how to be gentle. Or that it hurts to have your eyes poked repeatedly throughout the day. Caleb is such a great kid and really is trying to love on his sister! It melts my heart. Having two kids just gets more fun every day. Caleb is just hilarious. He is so observant. When reading a book, he notices the smallest details. When we are out in public, he sits back and watches everyone. Once he is more comfortable, he plays. I love that about him. Chloe is a very active infant. She kicks her legs constantly and rolls over a lot. However, she hates being on her stomach. So she screams when she’s been on her tummy too long (even though she can roll back over). She laughs all the time. She is total extrovert. When I hold her, she has to face out to see the people. We watched our friend’s son last night, who is just a few weeks younger than Caleb. No lie: they laughed with each other for like 2 hours straight. It was pure entertainment watching them interact. We have been friends (with the parents) since before either of us ever had kids, so it is so fun to see our children grow up together. They just started playing and interacting together recently. They get along really well, and the parents raise their kids similarly to us. Its really great to have friends like that. Well, domestic chores, such as planning meals for the week, are calling my name!

Two days ago was my big one year anniversary with the xanga domain name. I have been on xanga longer; I just switched names at one point.

In order to celebrate, I thought I might share some recent pictures. They probably look just like last week’s recent pictures….but to a proud mom, they are new and fun!

Another attempt to get a cute picture of the babes together. Caleb loves the camera, but Chloe cannot really move! Well, until Caleb moves out of the way, and she falls over (just onto the couch, so we’re ok):

It has been a busy week!! Everything has been really fun. It started with our friends, Wayne and Katie, coming to hang out and stay the night. We enjoyed some good coffee, some good conversation, and some good food (Thanks, W & K!!). It was so cute watching our babies play together. They are only a few weeks apart.

Tuesday was errands day (except that it was at night). That is always fun. Brett went with me to get fabric, and he was impressed by how serious women take their fabric. Oh, I also had my college girls’ small group meeting, which is always great.

Wednesday, I went to a sewing party with two friends. And, yes, sewing is a party! I made a make-up bag. Well, actually I messed up a make-up bag, but it is functional.

Brett worked like 16 hours on Wednesday. I was glad the sewing party made the day go by faster! The kids did great, though. They are so awesome!!

Thursday, I met a friend at the mall for our kids to play (there is a play area). We have kids the same ages and have a lot in common. I really enjoyed hanging out with her!

Valentines is pretty low key for us. Our anniversary is soon, so we just stay in and eat dinner at home. I did win an online giveaway that I was really hoping to win, so that is a treat! We did go out and get ice cream after the kids went to bed (well, I went to get it while he stayed home with our sleeping kids).

That is my week, in a nutshell. Busy busy. I am tired. But its been really fun, so no complaints here!!
